Eduardo Camavinga will be heading to Spain on a fee of €31 million with add-ons included, according to Fabrizio Romano. The deal will not be a loan, as some originally expected, with the French international joining a midfield that boasts talent in Luka Modrić, Casemiro and Tony Kroos, among others. The now former Rennes star was also linked to Manchester United and PSG, but Real submitted the only official bid.

Rennes was long expected to move Camavinga in order to turn a profit. With the summer transfer window deadline approaching within 24 hours, it was imperative to move the central midfielder. If no move was made by the Aug. 31 deadline, Camavinga likely would have left next summer on a free transfer.

18-year-old phenom Eduardo Camavinga is nearing a move to Real Madrid, as first reported by Fabrizio Romano. The deal is worth upwards of €30 million with add-ons included. The agreement is close to being finalized as personal terms have been agreed upon until 2026.

Camavinga was the youngest player since 1932 to be called up to the France senior squad. He has had three caps with the French national team, while also starring in 88 appearances for Rennes.

Madrid fans should be excited at the prospect of Camavinga joining the club. Not only is he one of the most heralded youngsters in the world, but the opportunity to learn alongside Modrić, Kroos and more should prove beneficial in the long term. The central midfielder will battle for minutes at the San Bernabeu and a future partnership with Fede Valverde could certainly be in the works.
