East Carolina Cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. Tears ACL

Last week in the NFL Draft Stock Report notes, I added a quick little side post on how East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. was tearing it up. It turns out that’s the last we’re going to see out of him all year. Revel, unfortunately, tore his ACL in practice and will miss the rest of the season.

Pete Thamel over at ESPN was the first to report the news:

Thamel also put together his post for ESPN and gathered quotes from some anonymous NFL scouts. I guess Trey isn’t the only one talking about him. Revel is viewed as not just a legit NFL prospect but a possible first round pick.

“He has a chance to be this year’s Quinyon Mitchell,” said an NFL scout who has seen Revel this year, referencing the former Toledo cornerback who became a first-round pick in the 2024 draft. “He’s as talented of a player as there is in a Group of Five conference.”

“The size, the length and the movement skills, for being as tall and long as he is,” said the NFL scout of Revel’s ability. “You don’t’ see a body type as rangy and fluid as he is at that size.”

Thamel also revealed that Mel Kiper, who also said the dumbest thing ever yesterday, has him ranked as his number two corner in the draft class behind Michigan’s Will Johnson.

This obviously sucks. Revel was probably the biggest reason to watch ECU games this year. He also performed admirably during season number one of the College Football video game series I’m doing. Speaking of, please show that series support! We’re on the verge of winning a natty with the Purple Pirates.
