Eagles Trade Bryce Huff To 49ers

The Bryce Huff era in Philadelphia lasted just one season. Hey, the good news is Huff got a Super Bowl ring while contributing next to nothing, so it wasn’t all bad. After signing with the Eagles last offseason, Philadelphia is trading the veteran pass rusher to the San Francisco 49ers.

The trade isn’t totally done yet because it needs to take place after June 1st for cap reasons. Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the news of the trade. Schefty claims a mid round pick will head to Philadelphia as part of the deal.

VIA ESPN:

“The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles are working to finalize a trade that will send edge rusher Bryce Huff to San Francisco for a mid-round pick, sources told ESPN.”

“The trade cannot and would not be processed until after June 1. But both sides are working to make it happen, and Huff already has reworked his contract to help facilitate the trade.”

Two things from me:

A: Sure seems like Robert Saleh had something to do with this. Saleh coached Huff when he was with the Jets. Maybe Saleh can get Huff to play well again. Let’s say more like the guy who had 10 sacks in 2023 compared to 2.5 this past year.

B: I can’t believe the Eagles found a taker for Huff. He was set to make about $17 million fully guaranteed this season. The 49ers will take on $9.05 million in salary as part of the deal. Either way, to clear some of that money and get a draft pick to do it is a HUGE win for Philly.

Nolan Smith, Josh Uche, Azeez Ojulari, and Jalyx Hunt will be part of the pass-rushing unit that Philadelphia will try to count on heading into 2025.
