The Eagles acquired Jahan Dotson but it’s not like there are a bunch of targets up for grabs. Philadelphia already employs AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith. The former Penn State product will clearly be the third receiver in the offense. That’s not including Dallas Goedert and Saquon Barkly being an adequate pass catching running back.
So what kind of role will Dotson have with the Eagles? According to offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Dotson will be very involved.
“He’ll be a great piece to our offensive process. Excited to let him build that role as we go,” Moore said, via transcript from the team. “Obviously, when you come in during the season, I think you let him just keep growing and keep growing and we’ll keep finding where that role presents itself, but he’ll be certainly a nice aspect of this thing, and he’ll be heavily involved.”
“Even today and the next couple days have impact on that, just the capacity that guys can play within,” Moore said. “We feel very confident with him, very comfortable with him. He’s handled it really, really well.”
Dotson, 24, notched 49 receptions for 518 yards with four touchdowns in a fully healthy season last year. Can he top those numbers in the new Eagles offense? Make sure to comment to let your thoughts be heard. I’m not sure it matters what the numbers are here. He’s going to help this football team and the WR3 spot has more than likely been taken care of now.
You know… instead of gambling on the likes of Parris Campbell, Johnny Wilson, etc.
