Dylan Laube 2024 NFL Draft Profile
It’s time to talk about the pride of New Hampshire. Yes, New Hampshire found their way in the 2024 NFL Draft. Running back Dylan Laube will look to take his talents to the NFL level. Does he have a chance to make a real impact? Let’s talk about it.
Let’s cut to the chase here right away. No, I’m not grinding New Hamphire tape. I don’t get paid enough for that (yet) and I don’t have the time to spare watching nonsense. I saw more than enough at the Senior Bowl to feel like I have a pretty good idea of what we’re getting here. I think it’s more of a question of what are we actually getting.
Laube’s best trait is his pass catching ability. Laube actually had a better year in 2022 running the ball but 2023 was his best receiving season. Adding 68 receptions for 699 yards and seven touchdowns through the air is impressive for any back. He caught the ball really well during the pre-draft process.
His best chance of making it is as a hybrid player. Line him up in the slot on routes. Laube also returned four kicks for touchdowns in college. He’s going to have to contribute on special teams. Has some skills returning but may have to fill other voids on special teams.
The problem is I just don’t see it as a runner inside the tackles at all. Laube checks in at 5-foot-10, 206. He has absolutely zero recruiting background and was listed as a zero star player. Which makes sense given that I don’t think he’s a real running back. Solid 37 inch vert and 23 bench on the bench shows he’s a hard worker. Just has no real power or juice element to his game as an inside runner. Thought he was very underwhelming at the Senior Bowl too.
Congrats on being able to catch but I don’t think there is much here beyond that. I have an undrafted grade on Dylan Laube and am not itching to go get him. Maybe has shades of Danny Woodhead but he’s not close to him in terms of quickness. Even in the undrafted area, there are other backs I’d rather take a shot on.
