The creators of Netflix’s most popular franchise are back, this time with a new project. Ross and Matt Duffer, better known as just the Duffer brothers, have received the go-ahead by Netflix to go and create a new series for the streaming platform — one that promises to bring all sorts of supernatural elements just like the pair’s previous series, Stranger Things.
This new project is to be called The Boroughs, a show about a small group of retirees living in a New Mexico retirement community. According to Netflix, “a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have … time.”
Along for the ride to make this show happen are Will Matthews and Jeffrey Addis. The two having co-created another Netflix show The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. They will be partnering with the Duffers and their production company Upside Down Pictures.
The Duffer brothers still need to finish up work on Stranger Things season five, so The Boroughs will likely have to wait until that series is finally wrapped up. Besides this, the brothers are also working on a few other projects right now as well, including another live-action attempt of Death Note. It may be quite a while before this show is released.
The Duffer brothers have been mostly known for their quality and good work. With Matthews and Addis also having a good reputation, The Boroughs seems to be in safe hands for now. But there will be a long time between this announcement and the final product releasing. We’ll just have to wait and see where things go from here.
