Since Peyton Manning left Denver, the Broncos have had a tough time finding their new franchise quarterback. Guys like Brock Osweiler, Paxton Lynch, Trevor Siemian, Case Keenum, and Joe Flacco sure as shit weren’t cutting it. With Drew Lock, things could be different. Lock has shown promise during his 4 starts as a rookie. Can Drew Lock finally be the solution for Denver at quarterback?
“He’s done enough to show he definitely could be the guy, and we’re looking for that to be the case,” Fangio said, via ESPN.com.
I think that says it perfectly. Could be the guy. Lock spent the first 10 weeks on injured reserve with a thumb injury. This may have been the best thing to happen to him. Getting to sit and learn without being thrust into the lineup on short notice is beneficial. A lot of quarterbacks start their careers by sitting and learning. This can’t be a bad thing.
I’m a sucker for gunslingers so it’s not hard to tell why I liked Drew Lock coming out of the draft. Lock reminded me of Jay Cutler without all the character concerns. Rocket arm but probably slightly more athletic. 4 year productive starter at Missouri, takes chances that he shouldn’t but will wow you. Lock also said before the draft that he’d rather get picked 32nd instead of first in order to go to a better situation. Drew Lock has a great head on his shoulders.
Thus far, Lock has been about what I expected. 64.8%, 6 touchdowns, 3 picks, and a 89.4 rating. You will take that from a rookie during their first few starts. Denver is also 3-1 since the Mizzou product was named the starter including wins over the Chargers, Texans, and Lions. The lone loss coming to Kansas City.
Lock has shown promise. He has all the physical tools to get the job done. Denver should feel hopeful that they have their guy. Just how good Drew Lock is hasn’t been determined yet.
