Does Travis Hunter Have Future Fantasy Football Value?

Maybe human evolution is real because the football version of Shohei Ohtani is about to make his way to the NFL level soon. If the cowards in charge of the Heisman actually gave me a vote, I would turn the card in for Travis Hunter if I had to pick today. Does anybody in college football exemplify football excellence more than the Colorado two-way player? The guy is a total rockstar at cornerback AND wide receiver.

The wide receiver part is the part that maybe is being under-talked about. Through four games into the 2024-25 College Football season, Hunter has 37 receptions for 472 yards, and five touchdowns. That’s good enough for the 6th highest receiving yard total in all of CFB. That’s while also playing elite cornerback at the same time.

Hunter was ranked as my number one corner coming into the draft, but maybe it’s also time to declare him very fantasy relevant at the wide receiver position.

What we see from Hunter on a weekly basis, I just don’t know how you can rule anything out. If you’re smart and you play best ball, the fantasy conversation becomes a real one. How many rookie receivers would you rank ahead of him if you didn’t worry about when to start him? Even if Hunter only plays receiver part-time at the NFL level, he’s so damn good that the numbers will be there, not?

This is going to be a fascinating conversation around draft time. Who drafts him, what’s the plan, and how many rookie receivers are you taking ahead of him? Good luck figuring all of that out. All I know is the conversation needs to be had about taking him seriously in terms of fantasy.
