Does Christian McCaffrey Fear The Madden Curse?

Christian McCaffrey is set to grace the cover of the new Madden game. Last year Josh Allen said he didn’t care about the curse and proceeded to dominate once again. This year, CMC has a different take. He claims he’s not superstitious so there isn’t anything to worry about.

“I’m not superstitious at all about it,” McCaffrey told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. “I was so excited, man. This was such an honor … When I first got the call, I was in shock. It’s something that I just never thought would happen to me. I never thought that somebody would call and tell me I’m on the cover of Madden.

“So when I got the call, I wasn’t thinking about any curse. I was just excited. I think that stuff is kinda myth and, you know, whatever happens, happens. But I’m excited to be on the cover.”

Christian McCaffrey Is Not Worried About Heavy Workload

It’s going to be hard for CMC to repeat even what he did last year. The 49ers tailback notched 1,459 rushing yards, 2,023 yards from scrimmage, and 21 total touchdowns last season. He also won Offensive Player of the Year. The former Stanford product is obviously a mega talent but it’s not going to be easy to eclipse or come close to those numbers heading into 2024-25.

CMC has dealt with injuries in the past. Hopefully, the Madden curse doesn’t strike in that regard.

The new iteration of the Madden video game comes out on August 16th, 2024.
