Dodgers Fans Troll Boston With Billboard

2020 did not bode well for many teams and their fans in MLB, but for Dodger fans, it was a year to remember. And if there’s any fan base that did not want to remember last year, it’s the Red Sox fans. Not only did Boston miss the playoffs completely, but they also lost their franchise player and 2018 AL MVP winner, Mookie Betts in the offseason to the Dodgers before 2020. Sure enough, Mookie helped the Dodgers go on to win the World Series in 2020 and was even nominated for NL MVP.

The city of Los Angeles and their ever so faithful Dodger fans feel so grateful for the gift that is Mookie Betts, especially given the fact that Boston wasn’t willing to cough up the $400+ million Betts wanted, and he was traded. Dodger fans still feel so thankful that they felt compelled to pay for a custom billboard in Boston for all Bostonians and Sox fans alike to see.

Troll Level: Expert

The billboard stands right next to Fenway Park on Brookline Avenue and reads:

“Dear Boston, THANK YOU FOR MOOKIE BETTS. Sincerely, Dodger fans and @pantone294.”

The billboard was made possible by an investment from Dodger fan Alex Soto, who also runs the fan account @pantone294. Not sure if Alex is truly thankful or just petty, but either way it’s entertaining as hell.

Now, Boston will go into the 2021 season with the black cloud looming over them that is the absence of Mookie Betts. Red Sox fans will have to either take an alternate route to Fenway or endure the painful sight of the billboard. Either way, 2021 will likely be a shit show for Boston, and the Dodgers will be sitting pretty atop the NL West just like usual.
