Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf Requests Trade

After six seasons in Seattle, wide receiver DK Metcalf has requested a trade from the franchise, first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This news comes very shortly after it was announced the organization was releasing Tyler Lockett after ten seasons in Seattle. Metcalf has expressed interest in joining a contender this off-season via trade, and it appears the Seahawks will grant him his request.

Metcalf, 27, has spent his entire NFL career in Seattle but appears set for new surroundings in 2025. This decision is on the heels of a disappointing year for the big-body receiver, as he totaled just 66 receptions for 992 yards and five touchdowns. His running mate, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, however, found great success this season, as he finished with 100 receptions for 1,130 yards and six touchdowns. Could the downtick in production and not being viewed possibly as the WR1 in Seattle be playing a part in this decision?

DK Metcalf will arguably be the biggest name officially in the market this off-season and should have a number of suitors for his services. He will likely require an extension from whatever team makes a move for him, so keep that in mind when you want your favorite team to trade for him. Through his six-year career, Metcalf has reached 438 receptions for 6,324 yards and 48 touchdowns. When he is on, Metcalf can be a dangerous weapon in an offense. The key is keeping him involved early and often because he can become checked out and frustrated. Something to keep an eye on entering the 2025 season.
