Somehow the Phoenix Suns went from waiving Chris Paul to landing Bradley Beal. I’m not sure this is possible in any other sport but this is the NBA and it’s a world of constant Looney Tunes behavior. We all know the new CBA is going to cause problems when it comes to roster construction but it really does feel like Phoenix stole Beal.
If I were a Wizards fan, this kinda feels like a moment to turn in the fan card. This team has never made the Conference Finals. Literally zero times for the Wizards. Before that you have to go back to the 70’s when they were the Bullets. This team has missed the playoffs in four of the last five years, have no young players to show for it, and just gave away their best player for nothing.
What did Washington really get? Landry Shamet and a couple of second round picks? This team is going to be so bad that it’s unlikely the swaps ever go through. Chris Paul is also either going to a third team or will be waved. Does anyone want to compare this to the Rudy Gobert package? Nobody thinks Beal is a worse player.
The truth of the matter is, they did this to themselves. Beal should have been traded a year ago. Something I talked about at length. There was no reason to give Beal the contract he wanted that included a no trade clause. Instead, you gave him the cards and now you got stuck with the awful poo poo platter of two day old sides that Phoenix had to offer.
Highway robbery. Beal’s contract is gross but the save job here by Phoenix should be praised. Again, they went from waiving Chris Paul to ending up with Bradley Beal. Only this would happen in the NBA. Not hanging onto Mikal Bridges was a mistake but they still have Deandre Ayton to move for other pieces.
The Suns officially have a third guy and I can’t wait to see how they fill out the rest of the roster.
