Did Cooper Flagg Cook Bradley Beal 1-on-1?
16-year-old phenom Cooper Flagg went viral last month for his dominant performance at the 2023 Nike EYBL Peach Jam tournament. Word on the street is that his hot streak has continued. Flagg attended Jayson Tatum’s Elite Camp a few weeks ago, and rumor has it he gave Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal the business in a 1-on-1 game.
Former Boston Celtics forward and 2008 NBA Champion Brian Scalabrine hopped on NBA Radio’s The Starting Lineup show yesterday with the story:
“I heard a rumor that my boy Cooper Flagg was at Jayson Tatum’s camp and he was busting Brad Beal 1-on-1, and Brad Beal got mad at him. Started cussing him out. This dude is a major trash-talker. So I guess the rumor is that Brad Beal and him were squaring off 1-on-1 and Brad Beal was taking it lightly. It’s a high school kid. Then Cooper started giving it to him. And I guess the rumor is, Cooper started talking trash and Bradley Beal got mad. Really mad.”
Neither Flagg nor Beal has validated the story, so it’s hard to say for sure what happened. Regardless, it’s an interesting thought. Was an NBA All-Star like Bradley Beal really getting worked by a high schooler?
Who Is Cooper Flagg?
Cooper Flagg is the No. 2 player in the class of 2025 per 247Sports. The Maine native will have no shortage of options for where he plays after high school, having already fielded offers from a number of top programs such as Duke, Kansas, UCLA, and Villanova. Wherever he winds up, don’t expect to see Flagg there for long. He is already considered one of the top prospects for the 2026 NBA Draft, and it’s a possibility he reclassifies to be eligible for the 2025 Draft.
One thing NBA GMs can expect from Cooper Flagg is competitive fire. If a 16-year-old is already bringing it against NBA vets like Bradley Beal, that’s a great sign he’s built for the big stage.
