Deshaun Watson missed a vast majority of last season with shoulder surgery. Now he’s hurt again after rupturing his Achilles in the loss to Cincinnati this past week.
It looked pretty clear from the moment he went down that the Achilles was shattered.
The team has since confirmed the news with a press release:
“The Browns announced that starting QB Deshaun Watson will undergo surgery to repair his Achilles injury, which will end his 2024 season.”
“Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) confirmed on Monday morning that Watson sustained a ruptured right Achilles tendon in the second quarter against the Bengals in Week 7. Watson was injured in the final two minutes of the second quarter, when he ran up the middle on a quarterback draw but stumbled and gave himself up on the play.”
This Browns season is toast (which it was before and after the injury sooo). Cleveland sits at 1-6 and will likely start Jameis Winston and or Dorian Thompson-Robinson the rest of the season. People will have varying takes on the Watson injury. Personally, I only have one thought. The karma gods weren’t done after they ruined Rashee Rice’s season. They had to take down kingpin scumbag Watson too.
Side note: If we’re being real about it, do we think Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski had a huge weight lifted from his shoulder when this injury happened considering that he’s been forced to lie about what’s going on? Food for thought.
