Broncos trade Jerry Jeudy to Browns

The Denver Broncos have traded wide receiver Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for two draft picks, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter first reported Saturday.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the picks will be a 5th and 6th rounders. The Broncos will now own eight picks in this upcoming draft, including four in the 5th and 6th rounds.

Jeudy, a former first-round pick, had his fifth-year option picked up last year, and thus will make roughly $13 million in 2024 after making $15.2 million combined over his first four seasons. There will be no dead money that Denver will have to carry in 2024.

He totaled 54 receptions for 758 yards and two touchdowns across 16 games last season. His best season came in 2022, racking up 67 catches, 972 yards and six touchdowns–all career highs. Jeudy expressed frustration with the team throughout last season, making his tenure in Denver a little more tenuous than it already was beforehand.

The news cannot become official until the new league year begins Wednesday. According to Over The Cap, the Broncos have about $30.6 million in cap space, while Schefter notes that the Broncos’ myriad transactions over the last several days have cleared nearly $50 million in space.

Denver will likely lean into Marvin Mims–in addition to Tim Patrick (if he can stay healthy) and Courtland Sutton–more in 2024. Mims had 22 catches for 377 yards and just one score in 2023 as a rookie. Though the 5-foot-11 target has top-end speed and was a deadly as a punt and kick returner, which netted him a trip to the Pro Bowl plus a second-team All-Pro nod.

Jeudy, meanwhile, will now be alongside respected pass-catchers Amari Cooper–who recorded his fifth 1,000-yard season over the last five seasons and seventh in nine seasons–and Elijah Moore, who was acquired by New York ahead of the 2023 season.

How do you see Jeudy’s fit with Cleveland? Let us know in the comments!
