Demi Lovato Says The Term “Alien” Is Offensive, Prefers Extraterrestrials

Let me start by saying, I’m a huge fan of Demi Lovato. She has some real bangers such as give your heart a break, heart attack, or really anything with heart. This time, she’s taking a stand and following her heart in a different way. Demi has decided that she is now an “alien” activist. (Sorry, can’t say that. Let me start over). Demi is taking a stand for extraterrestrials is a huge way.

The term “alien” is viewed as offensive towards the alien race and would like if all humans would refer to them as extraterrestrials:

VIA CNN:

“I really think that if there was anything out there that would want to do that to us, it would have happened by now,” they said. “But I think that we have to stop calling them aliens because aliens is a derogatory term for anything. That’s why I like to call them E.T.s!”

The word “alien,” when used in reference to immigrants or those who come from other countries, has become controversial and considered dehumanizing by immigration advocates.

Lovato told the publication that the purpose of the series is to give “an understanding of how much we need to take care of our planet and how much we need to learn how to expand our consciousness.”

“I think that the world is becoming a more open place,” the star added. “Slowly, but surely, I think that we’re making progress. And we’re slowly getting there. But, you know, any progress is progress!”

Does Demi have a point? Hey, maybe it’s time to pull the plug on referring to humans as aliens? Might be a good way to start?

As far as actual aliens are concerned… quick pause…

Is extraterrestrial the only term we’re going with here because those are a lot of letters to type? It’s like spelling out Giannis Antetokounmpo. Is it necessary for me to type out Antetokounmpo in every blog or can I just stick with the AP rules and use the most commonly known name – Giannis? Do extraterrestrials have grammar rules? Okay, I need to stop.

AND we’re back. K.

Look… we all know aliens are real. Stop hiding them from us. Let them know it’s acceptable to come out and let us all know what they prefer to be called. Until that happens, maybe we focus on solving humanitarian issues first? Food for thought.
