DeMarcus Cousins to play in Puerto Rican Pro League
Well, well, well, this certainly took a turn. Just after saying he was a top-3 center in the NBA, DeMarcus Cousins will play in the Puerto Rican Pro League, according to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Cousins will be playing in the Puerto Rican Pro League in their upcoming spring season. He intends to play for Guaynabo. The 32-year-old is using the Puerto Rican Pro League as a pathway to restart his NBA journey in hopes of signing to a team. The Baloncesto Superior Nacional league has included NBA players from the past in recent years, including former Dallas Mavericks guard J.J. Barea.
“DeMarcus is one of the best basketball players of his generation, and from a talent standpoint, he will be one of the best to ever play” in the Puerto Rican league, Mets co-owner Marc Grossman said, via Wojnarowski. “His ability to shoot and stretch the floor should be a great fit.” Via ESPN.
The former Kentucky Wildcats star center has become a journeyman over the years in the NBA, playing for seven teams in 13 seasons in the league.
Cousins found stardom with the Sacramento Kings before getting traded to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2016-17. In his fourth NBA season, Cousins finally broke into stardom by averaging 22.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks. He would eventually get all the way up to 27 points per game in 2016-17.
Cousins has been selected to four NBA All-Star games, All-NBA in 2014-15 and 2015-16 (both second-team) and NBA All-Rookie first team in 2011. Be on the lookout and stay tuned in with Vendetta for more news on Cousins’ time in the BSN league.
