David Ortiz Launches Papi Cannabis
David Ortiz… confirmed weed guy? You bet. The Red Sox legendary slugger is officially introducing Papi Cannabis. If we’re being totally honest; I kinda like the ring to it! Almost immediately after his induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Ortiz drops this bombshell.
“Once I embraced the flow of the flower everything changed,” Ortiz said in the release. “Cannabis has helped me relax, sleep better, manage stress and heal physically after a lifetime of playing ball, and I look forward to sharing Papi Cannabis and my personal journey to help people understand its benefits.”
“I personally prefer pre-rolled blunts, and these ones are special to me because I was able to work with my daughter Alexandra on the colorful artwork for the packaging,” Ortiz said in a statement. “I love that we were able to incorporate her design.”
“Reality is that cannabis doesn’t help in baseball, I don’t think. You know what I’m saying, if you’re talking about sports, you always gotta be speeding up, and cannabis slows you down,” he joked.
Real quick side note… Jonathan Papelbon had this to say. I’m still holding out hope we can get him interviewed but if anyone reading this wants to help in those efforts that would be clutch. I promise you I will nail it if it happens.
There are a lot of weed companies out there. Who knows how Papi Cannabis stacks up to the competition? The only thing we know is that his partnership is through Rev Brands, a cannabis manufacturer and wholesaler in Massachusetts. It had to be in Mass, right?
“The first product in the line was announced to be called “Sweet Sluggers.” These are pre-rolled blunts filled with Ortiz’s favorite strains like “Black Mamba #7,” “Lava Cake #7,” “Motorbreath #15″ and “Bootylicious #4,” Big Papi’s website lists. They are said to be packed “full of flavorful terpenes, high THC, and rolled in non-tobacco blunt wrappers produced with tea leaves and hemp.”
“The product will be available as a single one gram pre-roll blunt packaged in a dube tube made of 100% reclaimed ocean plastic. A single pre-roll is $18 or a three-pack is $49, according to Ortiz’s website.”
“Boston 25 reported “Sweet Sluggers” will be sold at three Revolutionary Clinics, located in Cambridge and Somerville, as well as leading recreational dispensaries in Massachusetts.”
It was a big week for David Ortiz who as I mentioned earlier made his induction into Cooperstown. In case you missed it, our guy Jiarmani dropped a video on Ortiz getting into the Hall. That video can be seen below. I haven’t written that blog on what David Ortiz means to me but I’m not emotionally ready for that yet. I promise I’ll write that blog eventually but not now.
For the record, David Ortiz belongs in the Hall. The Hall of Fame has been tarnished because they don’t allow Barry Bonds in. Not the other way around. Just so we’re clear on that.
