Dave Portnoy roasts Darren Rovell on the latest episode of The Dave Portnoy Show with Eddie and Co. after the on-going battle over a potential fight between Rovell and PFT Commenter.

“Rovell’s such a worm, He said he wanted $2 million, I can’t stomach it, even if we made 10 [million] There is something about giving him $2 million that just- I couldn’t stomach it. It was never something I took seriously… I saw Rovell at one point say he talked to our people…It was never an option. He never talked to me. His agents never talked to me. Rovell was never in consideration. I could not fathom making that guy relevant. He’s a worm… There is a part of me that wants to see him get beat up, but he’d be relevant. He needs relevancy. He has none. We’d make him relevant… He’s a smart worm.. he knows everything he is doing. He’s a cheap, smart worm and I couldn’t imagine giving a cheap, smart worm $2 million.”

This stems from Jose Canseco fighting in Barstool’s boxing company Rough and Rowdy on Super Bowl weekend. Canseco made over a million dollars for a fight that was less than 30 seconds.

Rovell tweeted that he would fight Pardon My Take co-host PFT Commenter for a $2 million dollar appearance fee. PFT accepted but had some ridiculous demands for Rovell if he lost the fight. He wanted Rovell to delete his Twitter account that has 2 million followers and to renounce his degree from Northwestern.

Love him or hate him, Dave Portnoy’s Barstool Fund is something special.

Portnoy is the founder of Barstool Sports, and although he does not own the majority stake anymore, he is still chief of content and has his finger in everything still. Rough and Rowdy is something that Dave still controls. He negotiates the big name fighters and “the fight came still runs through [Portnoy].”
