Dave Portnoy Rips Nantucket Magazine – “Got Runover by Snowflakes”

Barstool Sport’s Chief of Content Dave Portnoy went from being on the cover of Nantucket Magazine, to ripping the publication after they apologized for featuring him after public backlash.

Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, has had an insane few years riding the growth of the media brand he built. It is no secret how rich he has become since selling the majority ownership of his company and his successful business endeavors.

He has a second house in Nantucket, a vacation town in Massachusetts, where he spends about a month every summer. Their area magazine, Nantucket Magazine, featured Dave Portnoy on their cover because of his work with the Barstool Fund.

Then Nantucket Magazine put out a statement on Facebook to apologize to their readers

“Since releasing our May issue a week ago, we have heard from various members of our community who vehemently object to our current cover featuring Dave Portnoy. While the story was intended to highlight Mr. Portnoy’s work in support of small businesses, a number of people in the community have taken issue with offensive remarks and actions he has made in the past. We never want to hurt, offend or disappoint any of our readers with the stories we publish.”

Portnoy discussed his initial reaction on his podcast, The Dave Portnoy Show with Eddie and Co.

“Everyone associated with this magazine is dead to me… Tried to make me look bad, while they did the story knowing everything about me. They got run over by a couple snowflakes in Nantucket… So F**k N Magazine.”

Like him or not, Portnoy is not wrong. It is no secret what is attached with his brand and his persona. This is not their first story on him either, but this time they backed down after some sort of backlash.

The Barstool Fund has put Portnoy in a new spot because he is helping out so many restaurants that needed it badly. That has also brought him into the public eye, and for the first time in his career it is for a good reason. People hate Barstool Sports, and have tried to “cancel” them time and time again, and once again they don’t just roll over.
