Dave Portnoy, Joe Rogan Argue if Tommy Fury is ‘Real Boxer’

Two of the most prominent figures in media have collided as Dave Portnoy made an appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience“. For the most part, Portnoy and Rogan saw eye-to-eye, but they could not agree on whether Tommy Fury was a ‘real boxer’ or not.

The term, real boxer, is obviously subjective. Technically speaking, Fury is a real boxer as he has a professional boxing record of 8-0. Portnoy and Rogan just could not agree on how good he is. Rogan was far more complimentary of Fury and praised his boxing skills while Portnoy said dismissed his boxing abilities.

“Tommy Fury is not a real boxer,” Portnoy told Rogan.

“Of course he is a real boxer,” Rogan said.

“No chance,” Portnoy added.

“He is a professional boxer,” Rogan said. “Is he a world champion? No. Well, maybe he is, he might have some sort of a title.”

“If he does it’s in name only,” Pornoy said, “I saw Tommy Fury box, he is not a boxer.”

“Well, he is definetly a boxer,” Rogan said.

“Well he puts on gloves,” Portnoy said.

“Well he is definettly a boxer,” Rogan said. “Is he a boxer like his brother? No.”

“We would not know who Tommy Fury was if his last name wasn’t Fury,” Portnoy said.

The pair continued to argue whether Fury, the brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, was a real boxer and even watched highlights while debating over Fury’s skills.

Fury’s name was brought into discussion while discussing if Jake Paul will fight a real boxer. Essentially, the point that Portnoy was attempting to make was that a win over Fury would not display Paul’s boxing skill since Fury is not a real boxer.

Just one day after this friendly debate, Mirror Fighting reported that Paul offered to fight Fury in Manchester, England. Paul then took to Twitter and said Fury would not agree to fight him, even though he offered to fight in England.

Of course, this was all the ammunition Portnoy needed and he made sure to share the news with Rogan.

I’ll tell you what, Paul should send Portnoy and Rogan an edible arrangement, or some other form of thanks. The pair have done their fair share of promotions for this potential fight.

Maybe we see Portnoy and Rogan put their money where their mouth is and make a bet -if- Paul and Fury ever fight.
