Is Danny Ainge getting itchy as the 2020 trade deadline nears? Today, Ainge sat down with NBC Sports Boston and did an interview. The Celtics are a very good team. Boston is 33-15 and hold the 3rd seed in the East. The Celtics have a lot of talented pieces and are no question a better than they were a year ago. Danny Ainge is giving Kemba Walker a lot of the credit for their improvement calling him their best player.
“I think Kemba has been our best player this year. He’s made a lot of big shots for us, in crucial games. He brings great effort and intensity to the game. He brings energy to his teammates. He’s a selfless player, and I think he’s at the point in his career where he really only cares about winning. He’s letting Jaylen (Brown) and Jayson (Tatum) have their moments. He’s letting Marcus (Smart) handle the ball some, and Gordon (Hayward). He’s been very willing to share.”
I think Ainge is spot on here. This passes the eye test. Kemba is the engine in the car. From watching them, he makes everything click. Kemba has stepped right into Irving’s spot and thrived. He’s been the perfect fit for Boston. The ball movement is just so much better than a year ago.
Kemba is having a great year for Boston. He’s an All-Star starter and is averaging 22 points on a great team with numerous players to share the ball with. Kemba also has a PER of 21.8 and an effective field goal percentage of 54.
Boston has a lot of good players. Nobody makes the offense click quite like Kemba. I don’t have enough kind words to describe how great he had been for Boston. He saved the Celtics.
