UFC 278 saw underdog Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards become champion after pulling off one of the craziest upsets ever. Down 3-1 on many scorecards, Edwards landed a beautiful head kick on Kamaru Usman with under a minute left in the fight to take the belt. The UFC welterweight division is in a big transition phase now boasting a new champion. Usman had five successful title defenses during his reign since he first took the belt from Tyron Woodley in 2019 but it’s now the beginning of Edwards’ run as UFC champion.
Edwards vs Usman 3 is a no-brainer as Usman was a wonderful champion and has done more than enough to deserve an automatic rematch. This would be a huge fight as England has a UFC champion once again and the world will want to see how Usman responds to his first loss. UFC President Dana White seemingly understands this as he is already looking at venues in the United Kingdom.
After his Contender Series this week, White spoke to the media during a small press conference. The 53-year-old shared a couple of updates on the possible location for a possible Edwards vs Usman 3.
“We’re looking at every option out there right now,” White said. “We’re looking at all the venues in England. Not just London, we’re looking at every venue in England. We’re looking at everything.”

This is exciting news for UFC fans as this is the type of massive event that will only make a trilogy fight more memorable. Now that England finally has a champion again, it is only right that Edwards’ first title defense comes in front of his home crowd. Although there is no definitive destination for the fight, it is clear that White will be searching England for the perfect venue. Furthermore, he shared that this was bigger than the U.K.
“This thing is going to be so huge, not just for the U.K. but for Europe,” White said.

If White’s plans for the trilogy fight are to do a huge arena in England, then there are some mandatory fighters that need to be on that card. The first is of course the featherweight Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett as he is probably the biggest star coming out of England at this moment. He will need to be accompanied by his right-hand woman the fun women’s flyweight, Molly McCann.
Also, a big U.K card should have the fiery middleweight Darren Till and the explosive featherweight Arnold Allen on the card since both Englishmen have huge support from their countrymen. Ultimately, the trilogy fight has not been announced but it is interesting that White is already searching the U.K. for venues. Although there is no definitive time, it is clear that Dana White and the UFC have some big plans for an Edwards vs Usman 3 pay-per-view somewhere in the U.K.
