Damian Lillard wants to retire a Blazer

Damian Lillard returned to Portland for the first time since the trade this offseason. Lillard says he wants to retire a Blazer.

VIA ESPN:

“I really didn’t know where to go,” Lillard said during a pregame news conference. “I’d never been in the visitors locker room until today.”

“Because of how I feel about Portland,” Lillard said. “How I feel about the organization here and my time that I spent here, in my mind I’ve always felt like that’s how my career would end.

“Right now, I’m just in a space of like, this is where I am now. I’m in Milwaukee. I wanted the opportunity to contend, and our team has an opportunity to contend for this year and years to come, and I’m just living in that. But I definitely, when I was traded, I see a day where I’ll be in a Trail Blazer uniform again before I’m done.”

Lillard had an amazing career as a Blazer. He is the all-time leading scorer for the team with 19,376 points. He also made seven all-star appearances as a Blazer.

The Bucks lost 119-116 in Dame’s return game. Dame received a standing ovation from the Blazers fans he then dropped 25 in a loss.

The Bucks recently fired coach Adrian Griffin, despite standing in second place in the Eastern Conference. Adrian Griffin was fired for the defensive struggles the team was facing. The team hired Doc Rivers to be the new head coach. Doc Rivers may not fix the problem, however. Jrue Holiday is the best defensive guard in the league, and he offers amazing perimeter and switch defense; he can’t be replaced that easily. Dame Lillard offers an amazing offensive bag. The Bucks will ultimately be fine and likely end up as a two-seed, but this team needs to learn how to defend soon if they want to compete for a title.
