Craig Woodson 2025 NFL Draft Profile

We just did the profile on Cal cornerback Nohl Williams. Next up is the safety, Craig Woodson. The clock is ticking so I’m just going to get on with it if you don’t mind. Here is your 2025 NFL Draft profile on Woodson!

NFL Draft Stock Report: East-West Game

Woodson, 24, was a three star recruit out of the state of Texas coming out of high school. Checking in at 6-foot, 200, he was ranked as the 90th overall safety and 145th overall player in the state during the 2019 cycle. The redshirt senior spent all six years with Cal.

The timeline here look like this. From 2019-2021, he was pretty much a non-factor on the field. That 2021 season was a medical redshirt again going down during practice prior to the season. The good news is he bounced back without any hiccups after. He was Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 in 2022 and 23 and then wrapped up with Third-team All-ACC this past year.

The interception numbers are there too. It’s always a red flag for me when DBs coming out of college have goose eggs in that category. He’s got five over the last three years and then add in 7 PBUs last season as well. From the handful of Cal games I watched, he looked like a reliable tackler too. Just eight missed tackles last year, and was lined up all over the place.

The pre-draft process made more more of a believer. Yes, he’s at an advanced age, but the tools are here. 4.45 speed and a 10’7″ broad jump works for me. He made some nice plays in the East-West game as well. For the most part, really passed the movement skills test at the Combine. Not a worldbeater but someone who is very capable.

I have a late round grade on Craig Woodson. Somewhere in the 5th-6th round feels right to me. A depth safety who has athletic traits and decent production on top of it. Someone who can fill a void but probably won’t turn into any sort of superstar.
