Vince McMahon might have found himself back in the fold behind the scenes in WWE, but the former CEO could find himself on the outs with the company thanks to the merger with Endeavor.
The 77-year-old formerly retired from being the Chairman of WWE in July 2022 after a series of scandals regarding hush-money settlements led to just under $20 Million of unrecorded payments by McMahon being uncovered. This retirement was met with a lot of joy from fans as it meant Triple H would take over the creative direction of the company, which had already proved himself as a creative mind during his time as the main man behind the ‘Black and Gold’ era of NXT.
However, Vince McMahon returned to the company in early 2023, albeit in a corporate capacity, to help the process of selling WWE run smoothly. This led to Endeavor, the parent company of the UFC purchasing the company in April 2023, with plans to merge the two entities and form ‘TKO Group Holdings.’
In a recent article by DEADLINE, Endeavor plans to merge WWE and form the new entity by mid-to-late September, which if true, could lead to wholesale changes behind the scenes in World Wrestling Entertainment, especially when it comes to Vince McMahon.
McMahon was recently served a federal grand jury subpoena after federal law enforcement agents executed a search warrant, but at the time of writing, no charges have officially been made against Vince, and the WWE have made it very clear that they are fully cooperative in the on-going investigation.
With the impending merger, combined with the recent legal trouble McMahon has found himself in, he could very well become a victim of the wholesale changes coming to the WWE. However, this is Vince McMahon we are talking about, a man who could probably jump from a place with no parachute and land safely, but it is safe to say that the next few months are going to be very interesting for WWE, Vince McMahon and the wrestling landscape as a whole.
