The Los Angeles Clippers have decided that they want more cancer in their life. I guess we can’t be surprised given up the makeup of their roster never players. At least cancer exists. Kawhi? Who knows! In all seriousness, Russell Westbrook has signed a two-year deal to return to the Clippers.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN was the first to report the news:
Free agent Russell Westbrook has agreed on a two-year, nearly $8M deal to stay with the Clippers, agent Jeff Schwartz of @Excelbasketball tells ESPN. Deal includes player option. The deal for Westbrook is for two years at $8 million. The second year of the deal is a player option for $4 million. A sizeable decrease from the $47 million he was earning last season. Westbrook, 34, finished the 2023 season with the Clippers after the Lakers dumped him at the trade deadline. The Lakers immediately improved from a team out of the playoff mix to a conference finals team overnight. Meanwhile, Westbrick found a way to lose in the first round of the playoffs again.
We’ll see what 2023-24 holds! The smart people already know the answer!
We may still have more drama to come here with the Clippers. All signs point to the Clippers and even the Knicks as possible destinations for James Harden. Imagine Westbrook and Harden playing together again. What could go wrong? It’s the Clippers. Nothing ever goes wrong!
During the 2022-23 season, Westbrook posted 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game across more than 29 minutes per game. He also shot the ball like poo, of course, hitting .436% of his shots from the field and .311% from 3. Credit to Westbrook for performing better with the Clips, I guess?
