Few directors can sell out theaters across the country just because they were the person behind the camera. Christopher Nolan is one of these directors as he continues to deliver amazing films. His newest film, “Oppenheimer,” has a cast full of popular actors one being Robert Downey Jr., who is best known for his role as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Nolan, who was doing press for Oppenheimer with Downey Jr., shared what he would have done differently with The Avengers films.
As Iron Man, Downey Jr. was one of the biggest parts of the Avengers series along with Captain America and Thor. However, it appears Nolan would have given Iron Man an even bigger role if he was behind the camera.
“Having worked with you on Oppenheimer, there’d probably be a lot too much Tony Stark,” he said. “You’d be running away with the movie a little bit.”
I thought there was a great balance between all the characters in the four Avengers movies. However, Iron Man was a fan favorite and Robert Downey Jr. was fantastic as Tony Stark, so maybe this would have been great for the movies. The other change that Nolan would make to The Avengers should come as no surprise, as it is one of his directing call signs.
“And not like you in CGI,” he said. “Would you be prepared to get one of those jetpacks, the ones they make for real?”
Nolan is known for not being a fan of CGI as he tries his best to achieve a lot of effects practically. However, there is no doubt that this would be a giant shake-up as the Avengers films are littered with CGI.
The Avengers films have some of the better CGI in all of cinema but a Nolan Avengers series would be an interesting viewing experience. Finally, Nolan’s Batman Dark Knight trilogy is arguably some of the best superhero films so maybe this would be for the best.
As I mentioned earlier, Christopher Nolan is a fan favorite director of many people.
Superhero movies are usually the biggest movies every year, so a Nolan superhero trilogy would have to be phenomenal. His Batman trilogy had a completely different feel to them compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Dark Knight films were much darker and had a more serious and violent tone, and the villains in the series are among the greatest superhero villain portrayals in cinema.
The series started with “Batman Begins” in 2005, which grossed over $373 million at the box office. Then arguably the greatest superhero hero movie ever was released in 2008: “The Dark Knight,” which showcased Heath Ledger’s Joker, made $1.01 billion worldwide. Finally, the trilogy came to an end with “The Dark Knight Rises” in 2012. This film was fantastic in a lot of ways, which is probably why it was able to make $1.081 billion.
A Christopher Nolan Avengers trilogy would be a wild thought experiment, but regardless, fans will always have the Dark Knight trilogy.
