Chris Russo Is Really Struggling To Say Chris Olave
Chris Russo is a legend in the sports media game, but he’s as bad as Chickster and Jackson Law when it comes to pronouncing names. Pronouncing Chris Olave shouldn’t be super difficult given that he’s been on the mainstream radar since his days at Ohio State. Olave also was picked in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft so it’s not like he suddenly flourished overnight.
The correct way to say Olave is by saying it like – oh-LAH-vay. Maybe one of these days Russo will get it right. However today, yesterday, and the day before that were not those days.
We’re now two weeks into the NFL season and Russo hasn’t gotten it right yet. This is how Week one went when Russo broke down the Titans and Saints game.
“DeAndre Hopkins had seven catches for Tennessee. Henry had 63 yards on the ground. ‘Olive’ had a huge day for the Saints, eight catches for 112,” said Russo.
Somehow… it got worse after.
“They got two good receivers,” Russo said of the Saints. “Michael Thomas looks a little more active. ‘Olive’ is, uh…’Uh-low-vey,’ uh…’A-la-vay,’ whatever his…the kid from Ohio State, uh… ‘A-la-vay,’ ‘Alaveigh,’ ‘ah-LAH-vay,’ that’s it, ‘ah-Lah-vay,’ Chris ‘ah-Lah-vay,’ he’s very very good.”
At this point, somebody on Mad Dog’s team gotta help him out. The clips are hilarious but can we actually get the guy to say Olave correctly?
Also, make sure to tweet at @backaftathis and tell him you saw his clips in this post. We have a standing offer to him at any time where he can dunk on Colin Cowherd anytime he wants. I don’t think he understands how many clicks he could do here. Imagine the content you the viewer would get…
