Chris Johnson Officially Retires From The NFL

Chris Johnson will forever hold a special place in my heart. He was the one that made me fond of East Carolina. I continue to follow them to this day. The Lincoln Riley run was fun. Once he made his way to the NFL, I made it a point to acquire him in fantasy every single year. He made me a very proud fantasy owner year in and year out. Today is a sad day because Johnson has officially retired from the NFL.

CJ2K as he is known rushed for over 2,000 yards in 2009. Something that hasn’t been done since. With the league becoming more running back by committee and heavier passing offenses, Johnson may be the last ever to reach that feat. He also was the fastest man ever in the history of the combine until that bum John Ross broke his 4.24 mark. The speed, agility, and vision made Johnson one of the best running backs in the history of the NFL. A sad day to see it officially end.

Johnson finishes 35th all-time in rushing yards (9,651 yards). He rushed for over 1,000 yards in the first six years of his career. That timeline may have been extended by the Titans ran him into the ground and rightly so. He was a home run threat every time he touched the ball. Johnson 33, hasn’t played since 2017 with the Arizona Cardinals.

I always wondered what Johnson could have accomplished if he played for a real team. I have hated the Titans ever since because CJ2K was my favorite player dating back to his East Carolina days. He rushed for over 2,000 yards with Vince Young as his quarterback and Jeff Fisher as his head coach. Talk about hindering progress. What a sorry pathetic franchise. They ruined what could have been a top 5 running back of all-time. Imagine if he would have had a real quarterback and defenses didn’t stack the box with 8 men constantly. Imagine if they had a real head coach that could have been creative with Johnson in the backfield.

The Lead Word – NFL PreDraft Special And NBA Finals – 4.25.18

Once again, here we are with the Titans. A fake quarterback who stinks (Marcus Mariota) and a defensive head coach that lacks an offensive play caller (Mike Vrabel). Some things never change. Now that Johnson has retired, I think it’s time to curse the Titans because they deserve it. I originally wrote this article to remember the greatness of Chris Johnson but it took an ugly turn. Thanks, Tennessee, you suck.
