Charles Turner III 2024 NFL Draft Profile
The 2024 NFL Draft profiles are coming at you nonstop, and next up on the docket is LSU’s Charles Turner III. In a very top-heavy Center class, Turner finds himself towards the bottom of the list, and physical limitations might force a move outside to Guard. We will discuss all that and more in his draft profile. Let’s talk about it.
Turner, a former three-star recruit, is one of the last remaining players from the legendary 2019 National Championship team. He has experience playing both Center and Right Tackle but settled on Center during the 2022 season. He played a key role in an offensive line that helped propel Jayden Daniels to his Heisman win.
Nothing really to report from the Senior Bowl, and he had a passable NFL Combine but nothing special. There are some nice things about Charles Turner III’s game that could talk NFL teams into drafting him. The hands are clean and look like they land with consistency. He can drop his ass nicely against Nose Tackles and anchor in. Footwork is passable.
There’s just nothing that really wows me about his game. He’s not terribly quick. The hand placement is nice but they’re a little slow getting up. More athletic pass rushers have a good time getting past him with speed moves. Never really stays straight, lunging at times to catch up to help block especially if he gets beat. Not great in pass pro and is fine in run blocking but neither is necessarily all that great.
Charles Turner III gets an undrafted grade from me. I think his physical limitations could necessitate a move to Guard, but I don’t think that would help his draft stock. Some of the negatives can be worked on, but there are many interior offensive linemen who are simply better. If you want to bring him in during camp to be a body, be my guest.
