CD Projekt Red Announces New Cyberpunk Game, Codename Orion

Polish game developer CD Projekt Red announced a slew of new video game titles that will be coming out in the future. One of these new titles is set in the world of Cyberpunk 2077, which has been given the codename Orion. CD Projekt Red announced the new Cyberpunk game on Twitter Monday.

To many, Cyberpunk 2077 was a major letdown. I had a lot of mixed feelings when the game first came out, but almost two years later, I am happy to say it is one of the better RPGs you can play that is on the market. My over 200 hours of gameplay can attest to that. In fact, my playthrough on the Vendetta YouTube page is well into the 24-hour range, and that is just what I recorded or streamed!

Buckle Up Chooms

A sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 makes a lot of sense business-wise for CD Projekt Red. The recent anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was a massive hit. Over one million players were logging into the game every single day for the first week of the anime’s release. The anime showed just how amazing a narrative background Night City is. With a lot of the technical issues out of the way in the game, it is much more enjoyable and rewarding to just wander around Night City and absorb all of what the developers laid out for the players.

We will get a bit of a taste of new Cyberpunk content soon. Cyberpunk 2077’s first expansion, titled Phantom Liberty, is set to release sometime in 2023. There isn’t much information about this new expansion, but it is the first major piece of content outside of small updates over the past two years. I’ll take it.

Personally, I am ecstatic that Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a sequel. I am not sure if it will be a direct sequel where players take control of V again. It would be cool to see how V’s story plays out. At the same time, it would be fun to run with a new character. Whatever direction they go, I am here for it. Night City has so much more to offer. I need more Cyberpunk in my life.
