Carnell Tate Is No Sleeper; He’s WR1 If You’ve Been Paying Attention

It’s laughable that anyone considers Carnell Tate a sleeper. He’s WR1 in the 2026 NFL Draft if you have been remotely paying attention. (Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images)

Carnell Tate Is No Sleeper; He’s WR1 If You’ve Been Paying Attention

Before I begin this post about Carnell Tate, let me start by addressing the elephant in the room. I do not have any respect for NFL Draft “analyst” Matt Miller. I stopped paying attention to anything that idiot had to say after he proclaimed Mitch Trubisky and DeShone Kizer as bonafide first round quarterback prospects. Trey doesn’t need hindsight bias. Sorry, not sorry, but Matt Miller is a total idiot who doesn’t have a single clue how to scout.

This is not me being harsh. This is about educating you, the viewer, on who you should and shouldn’t take seriously. Miller is very much part of that latter conversation. All you have to do is observe the way he speaks. He doesn’t have a real opinion. He talks to people, and that shapes the way he thinks. It’s wash, rinse, and repeat every single year.

Soooo Miller comes out with a column titled: ‘2026 NFL draft sleepers: Scouts pick under-the-radar players’

Notice how it says “scouts”.

Because Miller never has a real, educated opinion. He needs someone to tell him what to believe.

I don’t think I even need to say another word. If you’re smart, you already know how you should proceed from here.

Anywho…

Back to the real topic at hand…

Tate currently tops my 2026 NFL Draft wide receiver rankings. He is in no way, shape, or form a sleeper. Here’s the funniest part. All of these Ohio State guys have worked. It’s clinically insane to call any of them sleepers, and doing so only exposes said person as clueless.

VIA ESPN:

“One NFC East regional scout praised Tate’s toughness and route-running ability, thinking he’s poised to shine this season.”

“I’m all-in on Tate,” the scout said. “He’s big, but his technical ability as a route runner is impressive. He’s really good at generating separation with his size and his start-stop ability. He’s a really good WR2 in the pros.”

Let’s be real. Miller’s entire article is a joke. CJ Allen isn’t a sleeper. He’s arguably the best linebacker in the draft. The only thing this article does is show how far behind Miller is. He’s not up to speed on what’s going on. He’s so far out of the race he actually thinks he’s good at this.

Sorry, not sorry, but if you need someone else to tell you about one of these Ohio State wide receivers who was a five star recruit coming out of high school… maybe you’re a trash NFL Draft analyst.
