Carlos Hyde signs a 1-year with the Seattle Seahawks on Friday afternoon. It is a 1-year deal that can be worth up to $4 million if Carlos Hyde reaches incentives.

The 2014 second-round draft pick spent his first four seasons in the league with the San Francisco 49ers. He signed with the Cleveland Browns for the 2018 season and was then traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars midway through the year. He spent last season with the Houston Texans. Carlos Hyde had a career year with the Houston Texans as he put up a career-best 1070 rushing yards and 6 rushing touchdowns.

The Seahawks running back room gets some much-needed depth as last year they were forced to bring Marshawn Lynch out of retirement due to injuries to running backs, Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny. While not as old as Marshawn Lynch, Carlos Hyde is definitely on the older side of running backs at age 29, and will turn 30 in September of this year. Carlos Hyde joins a running back room that consists of Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, Travis Homer, and DeeJay Dallas.

The Seahawks are still contenders as long as they have Russell Wilson under center. They finished second in the NFC West in 2019 with an 11-5 record and took the San Francisco 49ers to the wire in week 17 of the 2019 season. The Seahawks played competitively in the playoffs, winning against the Philadelphia Eagles in the wildcard round and playing a close game with the Packers in the divisional round losing 28-23. The last time the Seahawks were in the Super Bowl was Super Bowl 49, 5 years ago. We all remember that game for the Malcolm Butler goal-line interception and if the Seahawks ran the ball then it’s assumed they would have won the game. The running game has always been valued in Seattle, and the Carlos Hyde signing adds great depth with a player who is a capable starter.
