Bryn Forbes Arrested on Family Violence Charge

Former Minnesota Timberwolves guard Bryn Forbes was arrested Wednesday on a misdemeanor family violence charge, according to Dillon Collier and Ben Spicer of KSAT.com.

Police reports say Forbes, 29, struck a woman. According to the reports, the two are dating. They were driving home when Forbes became upset and hit her multiple times upon their arrival home. The victim required medical attention. At the same time, Forbes was arrested.

The current NBA free agent was arrested at 5:15 am at the La Cantera Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas. He remains in custody as of Wednesday afternoon. San Antonio police have not yet listed a lawyer under Forbes’ name. Originally, there was no bail set. However, later on in the day, bail was adjusted to $2,500 according to 1200 WOAI-AM.

There is no more information on the case at this time, as it remains under investigation.

It is notable that he was in San Antonio since he played 40 games for the San Antonio Spurs in 2021-22.

Forbes has been in the NBA for the past seven seasons, last playing for the Timberwolves. The guard played 25 games for Minnesota before he was cut on Feb. 9. Before that, Forbes played for Cleveland State and Michigan State in college. He also spent the 2021 season with the Denver Nuggets and then the Milwaukee Bucks, where he won an NBA championship.

Forbes was waived on Feb. 9 to make room for Mike Conley Jr. in the trade that sent D’Angelo Russell to the Los Angeles Lakers and Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz.

Bryn Forbes was never really much in the NBA. He was a guy that would get reps and shoot threes. His chances of ending up on an NBA team just plummeted even further than they already were.

This is a developing story.
