Bryan Alvarez alarmingly suggests AEW recreates hate crime at All In
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez have become two of the most credible names in wrestling journalism, but has Alvarez gone too far this time?
During his feud with CM Punk, MJF cut a heartfelt promo recalling his difficult childhood. According to the star, despite joining the football team, he suffered an anti-Semitic attack. His peers pelted him with quarters and allegedly told him to “pick them up, Jew Boy.” Bryan Alvarez believes that this real-life incident would be a good angle on screen, and recently pitched how AEW could bring it into All In.
David Bixenspan recently posted a clip of Bryan Alvarez urging AEW to recreate the emotional promo cut by MJF in an angle with Britt Baker and Roderick Strong.
“Brother, at Wembley Stadium: Roderick Strong, Britt Baker – they need to be out there [at] ringside for Adam Cole’s big moment, and those two need to slide him [MJF] that big f**king roll of quarters,” he said.
Along with his X-post, Bixenspan called Alvarez out:
“Hey, it’s mask-off Bryan Alvarez! There’s a massive difference between MJF using what really happened to him as backstory and shooting an angle where Adam Cole, Britt Baker, and Roderick Strong do a Nazi hate crime on him at the biggest show of all time. What the actual f**k?”
While Bryan Alvarez could have initially had good intentions with a viral storyline, many agreed with Bixenspan in the comment section. Wrestling has notably pushed the limit when it comes to blending real life with on-screen storylines, but this time Alvarez might have gone too far.
Bryan Alvarez has had some issues with CM Punk in the past
CM Punk’s long sabbatical from AEW resulted in numerous reports from outlets, especially Wrestling Observer. Alvarez notably covered the rumors surrounding Punk, but one episode of Wrestling Observer Live set the star off. In an Instagram Story, The Second City Saint went off on Bryan Alvarez.
“Look everyone, Bryan Alvarez doesn’t like it when misinformed internet trolls make up rumors about him so please stop making up rumors and stories for clicks while Bryan makes up rumors and stories for clicks okay?” he said. “He’s married for gods sake! By gawd that man has a family!!! (Bryan Alvarez shut the f*ck up and stop talking about me challenge day 1).”
CM Punk followed his Instagram Story post with an old email from Alvarez, where he claimed not to have any grudges against the AEW star for dating Maria. Following this, Punk also pointed out that despite being absent from TV, outlets continue to talk about him. Bryan Alvarez notably responded over on X, in a two-word post where he simply said “LOL WAT.” It’s unclear whether or not the issues between the two were resolved.
