Bruce Arians Has Been Calling Teams Trying To Get Jameis Winston A Job
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to sign Tom Brady this offseason. That pushed Jameis Winston out the door. As of right now, Winston still doesn’t have a team. In a wild turn of events, Arians has been calling teams trying to get his former quarterback a job with another team. Weird move but I guess it indicates that Arians has no ill will towards Jameis.
“I’ve called a couple teams,” Arians told Rich Eisen. “You’re going to get one of the hardest workers you’ve ever had and a great young man. It didn’t work out for us only because Tom Brady was available and we had Teddy Bridgewater if that wouldn’t have worked out. We were going full steam ahead back with Jameis. He’s a great young man and no one is going to outwork him.”
Arians did not keep anything a secret. Apparently, it was Brady, Bridgewater, then Winston on his preferred list of QB’s he wanted. There is a huge contrast of styles between Brady and Winston. I’m not sure it’s one that will work but it’s going to be fascinating to see how the Bucs season transpires. I don’t see why Bruce Arians wouldn’t be interested in bringing back Jameis Winston to be the backup. If Tom Brady is totally washed or has just one year left, keeping Jameis would seem like a smart move.
I know people are anti-Jameis because of the turnovers, however, I do want to share something that PFF posted today.
Part of the reason why Jameis Winston threw so many picks last year was because of the scheme Bruce Arians has. Arians loves to have his guys chuck it deep. Keep in mind sometimes the scheme makes the quarterback.
