Britney Spears backhanded in face by Victor Wembanyama’s security

This could be one of the biggest headlines one will see this NBA season, and it’s only time for the summer league–2023 No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama’s security team backhanded pop star Britney Spears in the face.

Wembanyama, arguably the most hyped-up NBA prospect of all time, is off to a hot start to his NBA career, but not for the right reasons.

On Wednesday night, the future NBA star was walking into Catch Resturant in the ARIA Hotel in downtown Las Vegas after a workout when the incident occurred. Wembanyama says that Spears “grabbed him from behind” before the situation escalated.

“I didn’t see what happened, because I was walking straight and we were told, ‘Don’t stop,'” Wembanyama said. “But that person grabbed me from behind — not on my shoulder, she grabbed me from behind — and so I just know the security pushed her away.

“I don’t know with how much force, though. But security pushed her away. I didn’t stop to look so I could walk in and enjoy the nice dinner.”

(All quotes are via TMZ.)

Wembanyama wasn’t able to see Spears’ face during the incident, but was later informed that it was her a few hours later.

“At first I was like, ‘No, you’re joking,'” he said. “But, yeah, it turns out it was Britney Spears.”

Britney’s husband Sam Asghari later responded to the incident on his Instagram later.

“The violent behavior of an out-of-control security guard should not cast a shadow on the accomplishment of a great young man on the rise @wemby,” he said. “The blame should fall on the coward who did this, the people who hired him without proper vetting, and a systemic culture of disregard for women within sports and entertainment.”

Wembanyama will make his NBA summer league debut Friday at 9.m. EST in Las Vegas with the San Antonio Spurs.
