Brett Veach Is Failing Patrick Mahomes And Nobody Cares

I’m going to say something controversial, but in reality, it shouldn’t be. Brett Veach isn’t good at his job. He just happened to have gotten the quarterback position right and the rest of what he’s done hasn’t totally come back to bite him yet. The Chiefs should probably turn into a dynasty but likely won’t because Veach has done a piss poor job. Nobody wants to talk about it because Kansas City is really good but the casual fan has no idea how many mistakes Veach has been during his tenure running the Chiefs.

The following things are all true in regards to the 2023-24 NFL Season. Mahomes is having the worst year of his career in all of these categories. That’s while pointing out the fact that the weather is nice out right now and will only get worse as the Winter months near closer.

• Mahomes has his lowest TD pass percentage of his career (4.9%)
• Highest interception percentage of career (2.6%)
• Lowest success rate of career (50.3%)
• Lowest adjusted air yards per attempt (7.2)
• Lowest yards per completion (10.8)
• Lowest passing yards per game (282.1)
• Lowest QBR (74.8)

So what I’m saying is that Mahomes is playing his worst football ever? Actually, that’s not what I’m saying at all. Mahomes is playing his best football of his career. The talent around him is just also the worst it’s ever been.

Mahomes is also having the best year of his career in the following categories:

• Bad throw percentage (10.8%)
• Highest On Target Rate (82.3%)

It’s pretty obvious what’s going on here. His receivers have a drop rate of 7.8% and he’s been hit 35 times already this year. The Chiefs offensive line has allowed a 23.7% pressure rate which is the worst since he’s been there. The Chiefs are also only scoring 23.4 points per game which is down almost a touchdown from their rate last year.

I’m not a numbers guy. I don’t even need to present you the data. I’m just providing it anyway because it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what’s going on here. Nobody will talk about it but I would bet my life on building a better football team than Brett Veach can and I have the evidence to back it up.

• Why did you take Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the first round as the RB one in that draft? I didn’t have it ranked that way. That was a wasted pick.
• The Jawaan Taylor thing was stupid and we saw it coming from a thousand miles away.
• Skyy Moore over George Pickens. Really? And you want me to take this guy seriously? Imagine Pickens in this offense because Trey had it ranked that way.

I can name 100 mistakes this guy has made that I have documented proof that I can do better. Even this past draft, I gave the Chiefs an F for their selection of Felix Anudike-Uzomah. The K-State product has zero sacks and hasn’t made any impact. That was their first round pick.

If Veach was doing his job, Mahomes wouldn’t be registering career lows in almost every category. The line is way worse without Orlando Brown. Where is the Tyreek Hill replacement? He still hasn’t found one reliable target beyond Travis Kelce, whom he inherited. He wasn’t in charge when the Chiefs drafted Chris Jones either, who is their other needling moving player.

Did Patrick Mahomes Draft Himself to Kansas City?

The truth of the matter is, the Chiefs are really well coached and Mahomes is playing his tail off. Mahomes is a great deodorant for the egregious flaws that are on this roster. Veach is screwing things up badly. Nobody will talk about it because they aren’t educated to understand what’s actually going on. Plus, Mahomes is so good that he’s just overcoming it. That’s the truth.
