Brandon Miller calls Paul George the GOAT

Brandon Miller, one of the top prospects in the 2023 NBA Draft, unleashed a massive NBA hot take. The small forward out of Alabama does not think Michael Jordan nor LeBron James is the GOAT of basketball. Instead, he says it is Paul George.

Miller gave the hot take while talking to media in preparation for the NBA Draft. A question from Brandon Robinson of Bally Sports asked for Miller’s opinion on the LeBron-Jordan GOAT debate.

“I actually do not think LeBron (James) is the GOAT of basketball,” Miller said. “My GOAT of basketball is Paul George. I always grew up watching him so it was never just Lebron.

Miller may be the first person to ever throw George’s name in the GOAT debate. It certainly is not a popular answer.

At the end of the day, Miller is dead wrong. That is not a secret, though. It is impossible to logically explain why George is the best player of all time. That is not to diss George — after all, he is an eight-time All-Star and is one of the top players of his era. Still, he has not won an NBA championship nor an MVP. George did not even make the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

I do not want to pile on Miller too much. I imagine George is his favorite player. In the past, Miller has said he models his game after George, which is probably a good thing for a 6-foot-9 wing.

This seems more like a 20-year-old trying to give his favorite player a compliment. Nonetheless, it is an outrageous claim.

If you want to add another twist to this story, Jordan will be the person who determines Miller’s future.

The Charlotte Hornets have the No. 2 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. For the entire draft process, it has been debated whether Miller or Scoot Henderson will be the selection. Jordan, who recently sold his majority stake in the franchise, is still the head of basketball operations and will reportedly have the final say in who the Hornets pick.

At the moment, Miller appears to be the Hornets’ selection at second overall. I doubt Jordan is petty enough to switch his pick at the last second because Miller does not think he is the GOAT. Or is he?
