Blues Send In Offer Sheets For Philip Broberg, Dylan Holloway

An NHL team actually listened to me!!! Now, they waited too long to do what I suggested but we’ll get to that part in a bit. The St. Louis Blues broke the unwritten rule in the NHL. Doug Armstrong grew a set of balls and sent in offer sheets for Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway.

The Blues put out the statement regarding their offers to Broberg and Holloway.

Oh, and the Blues made a trade with the Penguins to even make these offer sheets possible.

There is just one problem with what the Blues did. They waited too long. They only got the money to do this because Torey Krug is on LTIR. Edmonton will have have the same situation happen with them as Evander Kane is also on LTIR now. If this offer was sent in a month ago, the Oilers would have been screwed. Kane’s money has been freed up so Edmonton will probably figure out a way to keep at least one of them.

The Oilers have seven days to match these contracts. The Broberg one is the most interesting because he has real potential as a second pair D. Broberg was great in the playoff run the Oilers just had and they probably kept him in the minors one season too long. Time will tell if Edmonton decides to match the offer. St. Louis may have to worry about Edmonton trying to do this to the Blues in the future… except for the part where they have zero intriguing young players soooooo.

Way to go, Doug Armstrong. This needed to be done and someone actually stepped up to the table.
