No accountable. No respect. No intelligence. All of those words summarize the big fat great idiot that is Billy Eppler. We know what actually happened. Eppler blew the deadline. No, and, ifs, or buts about it. Eppler spit in the face of every Met fan on this planet. They never finished a job. A team that could have won the World Series landed minnows at the deadline and it cost them.
A double digit division lead in July turned into a wildcard team getting eliminated in the first round to an 89 win Padres team without Fernando Tatis. Sad, bad, and same old Mets. That’s what Steve Cohen doesn’t get. He hired a guy that inherited Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani and couldn’t win anything. The Mets have gotten away with a lot of sins but that’s what this payroll could buy. Of course, it’s not enough to be a real contender because the playoffs separate the men from the boys. You don’t win championships with clown show, Billy Eppler.
Bad news for Met fans. Not only is Eppler a big fat dummy. He’s also lying to himself and refusing to admit he’s wrong. It’s one thing for Eppler to have rocks for brains, it’s another to continue down this path of lies. Darin Ruf put together a batting line of .152/.216/.197 with zero home runs in 74 plate appearances. It was bad at the time and it’s worse now. Oh, and JD Davis has done nothing but rake since going to the Giants.
If I had done the actions of Eppler, I would have apologized. Well, I would have never done what he did because I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. That’s not what Billy boy did. He doubled down.
“No regrets. Had a process, had a good group of people in the room, good group of people that we were consulting with,” Eppler said. “Had the tools that we needed to have, made the acquisitions that we made. I think from (Daniel) Vogelbach‘s perspective it was pretty good. I don’t know, I’d be curious if you could point out somebody that outhit him — that was traded. Or how many you could, if you could. Or of the guys that weren’t traded, if they outhit him from that point forward.”
Keep in mind, Tyler Naquin didn’t make the postseason roster. Vogelbach is a fine off-the-bench bat but c’mon. What are we doing here? You didn’t get a real bat like a Willson Conteras. You didn’t go get a bat like JD Martinez. You didn’t even get a Trey Mancini. You landed minnows and lost. Not just lost… lost in classic Mets fashion when the Trumpets came out in the 7th inning while trailing. The lasting image of the Mets season is a desperate attempt to get hot and bothered by checking an ear.
Hey, Uncle Steve. When you want a real gm to make decisions for you, give me a call. Otherwise, feel free to continue down this dark path. It’s only getting worse because your foundation is crumbling. We all know the truth. Keep lying to yourself and keep paying the consequences.
