Davante Adams isn’t the only wide receiver being moved today. Adams got traded to the Jets earlier today. Now it’s Amari Cooper who is on the move. The Bills must have actually been in on Adams because they struck a deal with Cleveland pretty quickly after.
Buffalo acquires Cooper and a 2026 sixth rounder in exchange for a third and seventh round picks in 2025. Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports was the first to report the news:
Cooper, 30, has notched 24 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns this season through six games this season. Last year, the former Alabama product recorded 72 receptions for 1,250 yards with five touchdowns. A lot of that damage came on the heels of Joe Flacco’s comeback effort including a 265-yard performance coming in Week 16 last year.
It’s worth noting that the Browns were very much involved in the Brandon Aiyuk sweepstakes. They would have moved Cooper in that deal to San Francisco. Instead, they coup a third round pick, which they probably would have gotten a comp pick close to that once his contract expired after this season.
The contract part of this is key. The Bills will only pay Cooper $782k for the remainder of the season. He’s also needed as the Bills have struggled to replace Stefon Diggs. Keon Coleman needs to develop further and the team is counting on Mack Hollins to be something. Cooper even at his age, is a huge upgrade for this team. I’m sure Josh Allen won’t complain about this move.
