Bill Parcells tends to agree with me. He wants in on Darnold too. In an article that recently got published in the New York Post, Parcells spoke about how Darnold won’t be a bust like other Jet quarterbacks in the past:
“I know Sam a little bit,” Parcells said. “I like him. I think he’s a tough guy.
You know what I like about him? He’s not ready to be a star. He just wants to play.”“That’s very important,” Parcells said. “Half of them come into the league and they’re ready to be a star but they’re not ready to pay the price to be a quarterback.”
Couldn’t agree more. The thing about Darnold is that he is never overwhelmed. He could be one of those California cool kids, but that’s not him. He grew up as a linebacker. He just likes football. Being in New York doesn’t phase him. Being the youngest starting quarterback ever in the NFL is just another day.
Slinging Sammy has the talent. Over the last 3 weeks of the year, Darnold was statistically the best quarterback in the NFL. That’s not an accident. Expect a big jump in year two of Darnold. If Bill Parcells likes him, that means I only want more stock. Parcells should go down as the most underrated coach of all-time. Nobody created more winners out of losers than he did.
