Are Y’all going to keep telling me I’m wrong for the Mike Tomlin slander? Cause now legendary Steelers coach, Bill Cowher, now agrees with me. Take that haters! The former Super Bowl winning coach (who’s part of the CBS Sports NFL coverage) had some choice words for his former organization.
Are the Steelers really ruining Kenny Pickett? Cowher says yes!
“You’re transitioning into a new quarterback, ok? And right now, I get worried about his confidence, because I’ve seen this happen to other quarterbacks right now,” Cowher said on CBS’s postgame show. “Take the ball out of his hands, don’t ask him to do as much as you’re asking him to do. I know we have these receivers and everything else.
“It’s not about the receivers, it’s about a philosophy on offense that says, listen, what’s the best part of your team? It’s going to be your defensive side, but that gets worn down after a period of time. There’s no margin of error there.
“You have to somehow shorten the game with this quarterback and it goes back to run the ball and put him back under center,” Cowher continued, acknowledging Pittsburgh’s 2-6 record. “… I understand it’s a period of transition. What’s in the best interest to develop the quarterback, who’s your quarterback of the future without destroying his confidence?”
Pickett, 24, went 25 of 38 for 191 yards with an interception in loss to the Eagles in Week 8. More than anything, it’s just time to recognize Cowher has a point. The jury is out on Matt Canada and it’s time to send him to the dog house. The passing chart here doesn’t lie. It’s bland, boring, and tells the story.
Might be time to give the old ball coach a call. Cowher posted a 15-1 record with rookie Ben Roethlisberger. Mike Tomlin can’t seem to do the same despite having a talented defense. Ra Ra coach ain’t good enough anymore. Time to get someone that looks like Mike McDaniel. Just a reality of the new NFL. It does stand for Not For Long after all…
