Bill Belichick: Patriots Didn’t Want To Lose Malik Cunningham

Malik Cunningham is now a member of the Ravens after Baltimore plucked the former Louisville signal-caller off the Patriots practice squad. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick actually gave some rare insight into what went into the move. Belichick claims that the Patriots tried to keep Cunningham.

“Yeah, but I think they sold him on the opportunity, the offense,” Belichick said. “He and Lamar. Certainly, their offense suits Malik better than probably any other offense in the league does. It makes sense. As a quarterback.”

There are two ways to look at this.

A: Belichick is right about one thing. I’m sure the Ravens did sell Cunningham on their vision. Cunningham and Lamar Jackson were collegiate teammates. I’m sure they did a great job convincing Cunningham of their gadget plan for him.

B: This one is a matter of if you’re smart enough to figure out the truth. Belichick can tell you whatever he wants. The truth of the matter is if they carried Cunningham on the 53-man roster all season, he wouldn’t be with the Ravens right now. It’s just a fact. They allowed teams to sniff around since he was on the practice squad. If they really didn’t want to lose Cunningham, he would have been on the 53. He wasn’t and got plucked. Bottom line, end of story.

Nothing else that needs to be said. That’s the truth. Belichick can say whatever he wants. Just know he’s lying to you. Too be these local reporters aren’t smart enough to figure that out.
