This June we got another short but packed Nintendo Direct livestream. Nintendo showcased some of the biggest up and coming games this year and although there was no announcement for a new console fans still have a lot of games to look forward to.
First up is the newest Mario game, following both Mario and Luigi in a coop-centered game. Honestly looks like a lot of fun with friends. Many of the mechanics shown seem like a blast to learn but overall it isn’t at the top of my list. Mario and Luigi: Brothership is set to release November 7.
For the first time Zelda will actually be the main protagonist of a Zelda game. Although that might excite many fans, the really exciting part is in the brand new twist on a top down Zelda game. There is less of a focus on average action-adventure combat and instead an emphasis on a less linear approach and more puzzle solving through game mechanics. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom launches September 26.
Anyone who considers themselves a Nintendo fan loves Donkey Kong Country so a remaster is always welcome to fans who never got to experience the first or want to reexperience the game in HD. January 16 is the release date.
Super Mario Party holds a dear place in every Nintendo fan’s heart as one of the best party games with friends. However, Nintendo is upping the ante with allowing players to play online with up to 20 friends. The hype behind this Mario party is building it up to be the biggest one yet. We’ll be seeing this release October 17.
Fans have been waiting for this one for a while, I know. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is the long-awaited 4th title in the Metroid Prime series and was first announced back in 2017. Finally, after switching game studios and seven years Nintendo is giving us a small but hunger-inducing taste for what is to come for the series. Metroid Prime will be back in its first-person shooter glory sometime next year.
If none of the other games listed sound soothing and cute enough for you don’t worry because Hello Kitty Island Adventure will definitely be meeting those needs. For fans of games like Animal Crossing this game will quench your need to make adorable friends and explore the tropical island in this new adventure. Look for Hello Kitty Island Adventure on both Switch and PC sometime in 2025.
Despite this month’s Nintendo Direct being slightly more mild and less explosive there titles announced should hold fans over while we wait for a new console announcement. There were many new games that were overlooked in this list so for more information check out Nintendo’s Youtube to see all the trailers and anything you might of missed.
