Ben Simmons Claims He Will Start Taking Open 3-Pointers

Ben Simmons can’t shoot. A toddler can figure that out. Simmons is 0-18 in his career shooting beyond the arc. That’s in 182 career games. Big YIKES. Simmons can’t shoot, at all. I have a better chance at knocking one down than he does. However, Simmons is entering the season with new confidence. Open look? Ben is going to let it fly.

“No. I’m not going to come out and shoot threes,” he said… “It’s just a part of the game. If it’s open, I’ll take it.”

I’ll believe it when I see it. Well, maybe we will see it. Looks like Simmons can actually make it splash?

I’m still not buying it. Until Simmons knocks one of these down in a game, I don’t believe it. During last season, Simmons shot just 23.8 percent from 10 feet or further. That’s anemic. Gross. Let’s be real honest. If Simmons can’t knock down the mid-range jumper, there’s a real cap on his ceiling. Simmons is on a max deal so he better knock down those mid–range shots. What’s the over/under for 3’s made from Simmons this upcoming year? Whatever it is, I’m taking the under.

Simmons has to shoot this year. I don’t know how he and Embiid work long term if he doesn’t. A year ago in the playoffs, the 76ers were reduced to having Embiid beyond the 3-line while Simmons drove through a clear lane. Throw Al Horford into the mix. Are we sure this Philly thing is going to work. I don’t have high hopes for it. The 76ers had one reliable end of game scoring last year with Jimmy Butler. He’s gone now. The shooting void has to be filled by Simmons. Let’s see if he can actually do it.
