Jay Cutler has probably played his last game as a member of the Chicago Bears (Nam Y. Huh/AP)

The Jay Cutler era in Chicago is likely over. The Bears have officially started shopping the veteran quarterback in hopes of finding a trade partner. Adam Schefter and Jeff Darling of ESPN were first on the news.

Cutler spent most of the 2016 season hurt only playing 5 games in the process. Cutler, 33, wasn’t very good in those 5 games either throwing 4 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. Cutler still has 4 years remaining on his contract so it’s safe to assume teams would have to work on a restructured contract.

So far only the New York Jets have made it known they have an interest in Cutler. Surrounding young guys like Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg with a veteran like Cutler. It remains to be seen if any team would be willing to trade for the soon to be former Chicago Bears signal caller. If Chicago does not find a trade partner, I would assume they will likely release him.
