If you’re a Baltimore Ravens fan, you are probably pretty familiar with the idea of injuries hurting your season.
It seems like the Ravens are one of the most injured teams in the NFL each year, and that sentiment in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL Season hasn’t changed with the fear that defensive back Marcus Williams has torn his pectoral muscle. Ian Rapoport was among the first to break the unfortunate news.
But if you think that was the only injury the Ravens dealt with yesterday you would be sorely mistaken. J.K Dobbins was confirmed to have a torn achilles. Both Ronnie Stanley and Tyler Linderbaum left the game and did not return.
The hope with the latter two injuries is that they aren’t anything too serious, but it would only be fitting if they both end up missing serious time.
Overall, this is a big blow to the Ravens’ secondary. Williams was a stand-out defensive back and was making his presence felt all game for the Ravens.
While it didn’t seem to affect them too much in their matchup against the Texans, over the course of the year, these injuries will certainly add up. The Ravens’ injury history says that a few more star players are due to get hurt.
I’m not a Ravens fan, but am still hoping this doesn’t happen once again. The Ravens just can’t seem to catch a break when it comes to the injury bug. Early in the 2023 season, that doesn’t seem like it’s going to change. I wish Marcus Williams and the others who suffered injuries a speedy recovery.
Baltimore’s shown many times before the ability to play through injuries and continue to win, but you can’t help but think that at some point enough is enough. A team can only survive so many injuries before it starts affecting morale.
